JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for collecting materials to be shredded from customer locations, loading and / or shredding of material onto the shred truck for safe transport. Operates straight truck between designated locations. Notes quantity (by weight) of material collected and ensures proper records are completed and filed. Reports location for tracking and dispatch purposes. Obtain proper signatures when necessary. Make minor repairs and report any malfunctions or major repairs. Determine routes or follow prescribed schedule. Comply with regulations for inter and intra state commerce as directed by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

Description:
Safely operate straight truck and observe all inter and intra state commerce regulations.
Must fill out and maintain a DOT Logbook.
Must be able to meet Department of Transportation physical requirements.
Carry office materials securely from customer's place of business to the shred truck safely in locked containers.
Communicate effectively with customer and attempt to amicably address any concern or demand they may have. Show the proper respect for the customer and customer's materials.
Must safely lift or move up to 150 pounds, with assistance, of office material and carry them safely to the truck. Requires the frequent carrying of materials up and down stairs.
Must unload/load office material at the facility without damage. Responsible for loading and unloading truck in a safe and timely manner. Must ensure that any and all helpers use OSHA approved lifting techniques.
Must call dispatch to provide updated status.
Responsible for routine truck maintenance and repairs. Must inspect truck prior to beginning transport to ensure the safe condition of the truck per DOT standards. Report all major maintenance needs or accidents to the operations office immediately. Obtain a police report for any accident no matter how minor it may seem.
Follow instructions on route sheets and ensure that the proper equipment necessary to complete the job is on hand.
Must calculate weights of materials collected and note same on tickets using handheld scanner.
Must prevent damage to customer's property during loading, unloading, and transit.
Must stay in communication with Gilmore for freight tracking purposes.
Must ensure that all materials collected are shredded according to NAID standards.
Perform other duties as assigned. This may include assignments in other GS Divisions where the assigned duties will be identified in the related Job Description which will be provided.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Typical Years of Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
One plus years experience route transportation experience is preferred
Experience in the moving, shredding or RM areas preferred.
Must be 25 years old
Special Requirements:
Must possess at a minimum a license that qualifies the driver to operate a straight truck. Must pass a Department of Transportation Medical Examination and maintain a Department of Motor Vehicle safe driving record that meets insurance requirements.
Must be able to operate lift gate and/or computer operated tipping mechanism
Must be able to safely operate the body lift mechanism for the vehicle (to release contents).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 45 per week
