JOB SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision this position is responsible for collecting materials to be shredded from customer locations, loading and / or shredding of material onto the shred truck for safe transport. Operates up to a 26 foot truck between designated locations. Notes quantity (by weight) of material collected and ensures proper records using handheld scanner are completed and filed. Reports location for tracking and dispatch purposes. Obtain proper signatures when necessary. Make minor repairs and report any malfunctions or major repairs. Determine routes or follow prescribed schedule. Comply with regulations for inter and intra state commerce as directed by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
This position will be a floating position to fill in when others are out sick or on vacation and may cover our entire territory from Mobile, AL to Tallahassee, FL up to Montgomery, AL but once a new routes are created this position would get those routes.

Description:
· Safely operate up to a 26 foot truck and observe all inter and intra state commerce regulations.
· Must fill out and maintain a DOT Logbook.
· Must be able to meet Department of Transportation physical requirements.
· Carry office materials securely from customer’s place of business to the shred truck safely in locked containers.
· Communicate effectively with customer and attempt to amicably address any concern or demand they may have. Show the proper respect for the customer and customer’s materials.
· Must safely lift or move up to 150 pounds, with assistance, of office material and carry them safely to the truck. Requires the frequent carrying of materials up and down stairs.
· Must unload/load office material at the facility without damage. Responsible for loading and unloading truck in a safe and timely manner. Must ensure that any and all helpers use OSHA approved lifting techniques.
· Responsible for routine truck maintenance and repairs. Must inspect truck prior to beginning transport to ensure the safe condition of the truck per DOT standards. Report all major maintenance needs or accidents to the operations office immediately. Obtain a police report for any accident no matter how minor it may seem.
· Follow instructions on route sheets and ensure that the proper equipment necessary to complete the job is on hand.
· Must calculate weights of materials collected and note same on tickets.
· Must prevent damage to customer’s property during loading, unloading, and transit.
· Must ensure that all materials collected are shredded according to NAID standards.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Typical Years of Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
One plus years experience route transportation experience is preferred
Special Requirements:
- Must possess at a minimum a license that qualifies the driver to operate up to a 26 foot truck and Department of Motor Vehicle and safe driving records that meet insurance requirements.
- Must be able to operate lift gate and/or computer operated tipping mechanism
- Must be able to safely operate the body lift mechanism for the vehicle (to release contents).
- Employee will be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. Failure of a test is grounds for dismissal
Physical Demands and Working Environment

Environment: Constant contact with staff and public. Work is performed mostly outdoors in 80 to 100 degree heat; work is performed indoors only long enough to gather office products for shredding.
Physical: Requires constant (67% - 100% of the time) standing, walking and bending for long periods of time. Requires constant movement about an office building, the carrying of office materials for up to 60 yards and up and down stairs. Requires frequent (34% - 66% of the time) safe lifting of office products both loose and bagged (up to 150 lbs. with assistance) and movement of containers on wheels (up to 300 lbs.) When the weight, shape, or size of an object makes the job too much for one person, ask for assistance. Requires physical conditioning which complies with DOT standards.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
