QUALIFICATIONS/JOB DESCRIPTION

The Gilpin County School District RE-1 seeks a Elementary Kindergarten Teacher for Gilpin County Elementary School for the 2025/2026 school year. Gilpin County Schools are on a 4-day a week schedule, Monday through Thursday. This position begins on August 4, 2025. The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Successful experience as a teacher at the elementary level with background in early literacy development and math foundations.
  • Background in curriculum alignment, standards-based instructional practices, and the ability to facilitate data-driven instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment using good communication skills with students, staff and the school community.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards and assessments, core content knowledge in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
  • Use research-based instructional strategies and incorporate technology when teaching.
  • Ability to ensure student academic success through Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

JOB GOALSTo create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational background in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES1. Plans a program of study that is appropriate to the maturity and interest of students and meets their individual needs and abilities. 2. Creates a positive classroom environment which upholds and enforces the school rules and is conducive to learning. 3. The teacher will guide the learning process to increase student achievement in accordance with the curriculum and consistent with state and local standards. 4. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. 5. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required in a timely and confidential manner. 6. Work with other professionals to determine special learning needs of pupils on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of specialists as required. 7. Collaborates with colleagues, students, and/or parents on an ongoing basis concerning student academic and behavioral progress. 8. The school professional adheres to the Board of Education policies, state rules and regulations, and to licensure standards. 9. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence and serves on staff committees as required.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Colorado Teaching License with Elementary endorsement, preferred.
  • Alternative Teacher Licensure Candidates will be considered.
  • Long-term substitute Candidates who qualify for a Colorado Substitute Teacher Authorization will be considered for school year employment.
  • Candidate endorsement in the content area, passed the PLACE or Praxis test in the content area, and/or have 24 semester credits in the content area.
  • One to 3 years of relevant classroom experience is preferred.

EMPLOYMENT PERIOD

2024/2025 School Year. Gilpin County Schools are on a 4-day a week schedule, Monday through Thursday. 165 contract days per school year, including new teacher orientation.

SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION

Based on Certified Salary Schedule “B.” Bachelor Degree Salary range $50,000 to $51,003; Masters Degree Salary Range $55,280 to $56,502. Outside experience is credited up to 5 years on the salary schedule.

Colorado Substitute Authorization Holders-pay negotiated.

District-paid employee health, dental, and vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment, and long term disability insurance. District-paid contribution 21.4% of annual salary to the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Account (PERA). Paid time off/Annual Leave 10 days a school year, which may be accrued to a total of 60 days.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT

Strong oral and written communication and customer service skills. High level of professionalism. Ability to treat others with respect, work with integrity and ethics, and demonstrate teamwork skills. Must have basic writing, math, and computer skills. Must possess bilingual skills and be able to provide translation support, both verbal and written, at a proficient level. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job and diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment such as telephones, computer, copier, fax machine, e-mail, etc. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education Policies and department procedures; communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and education backgrounds; and recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear and use

hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The

employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up

to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this

job include close vision and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and use

interpersonal skills. Frequently required to coordinate. Occasionally required to compare, analyze, copy,

instruct, compute, and compile.
