JOB DESCRIPTION: RECREATION COORDINATOR
Primary Responsibility: The Recreation Coordinator plans, organizes, budgets, promotes, and oversees the staff, operations, and activities of adult and youth leagues, fitness programs, contracted services and other recreation programs and workshops. Also maintains and tracks all fitness equipment in Community Center. Collaborates with Recreation Supervisor and community participants to lead and develop a fun programs and leagues for the community in a safe and professional environment. Ensures facilities are properly maintained and clean, including gymnasium, cardio hall, fitness studio, multipurpose room and Pete Gones Memorial Park and performs related work as required.

- Creates an environment of trust, safety, and fun. Influences and creates a positive environment for County residents.
- Conducts and oversees routine safety checks of fitness equipment. Ensures that all required maintenance and cleaning is completed.
- Coordinates all leagues, tournaments, skill camps and workshops for adult and youth sports current and new.
- Coordinates other recreation programs as needed such as art, dance, theater, outdoor recreation, etc.
- Provides direct leadership and management to sports officials, groundskeeper and volunteer coaches, including scheduling, maintaining personnel files and approving payroll. With Director approval, oversees hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and exiting of staff and volunteers when necessary.
- Performs sports official or scorekeeping duties, as needed.
- Performs groundkeeper duties when needed, such as mowing, field painting, weed-whipping, playground maintenance, trash cleanup, etc.
- Creates marketing materials such as flyers, social media posts, articles to newspapers, website design, etc.
- Uses strong customer service skills and problem-solving skills to design and implement solutions. Receives and responds to questions and concerns from guests about facilities, equipment and programs; identifies issues and resolves problems or refers to Director as appropriate.
- Leads training sessions, including safety drills and other emergency procedures; ensures that staff, contractors and volunteers attend required trainings and maintains records on same.
- Observes, monitors, and evaluates recreation programs and activities to assess the quality and gather input from participants on present and future needs by mode of surveys, face to face contact, etc.
- Leads organizational program meetings with captains, participants, program supervisors, officials, and/or scorekeepers.
- Develops team rosters, practice, and game schedules.
- Develops and implements overall program philosophy, expectations, and priorities to participants, volunteers, and spectators.
- Ensures that all shifts/games are properly staffed. Schedules staff for special events when required.
- Obtains bids or pricing information for league and fitness equipment and supplies; orders and picks up supplies as necessary.
- Manages, tracks and solicits for the youth league sponsorship program.
- Assists Director with the preparation and administration of the department budget. Monitors program revenues and expenditures, seeks alternative funding resources.
- Coordinates activities with other departments.
- Provides support for Parks & Recreation specials events.
- Attends trainings, conferences, and staff meetings as appropriate.
- Implements and updates written policies and procedures, and other documents, as needed.
- Performs other appropriate functions as assigned by the Director, and any duties needed to stabilize an emergency.
