What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School History Teacher position at Gindi Maimonides Academy?
Middle School History Teacher Wanted: Must Love People, Primary Sources, and Perspectives
Can you make the Constitution feel like a living document? Turn ancient civilizations into dinner table conversations? Help students connect revolutions and reformers to their own identities and questions? If you believe history isn’t about memorizing dates but about understanding people, power, and patterns, this might be your dream job.
Do you speak fluent tween? Can you tell when a student’s blank stare means “I’m totally lost” vs. “I’m plotting my next snack heist”? Do you believe that eye rolls are just a form of affection? If so, keep reading.
At Gindi Maimonides Academy, we’re looking for a teacher who gets middle schoolers—not just tolerates them. Someone who knows that adolescence is a beautiful, bewildering, and often bumpy ride, and still chooses to hop on the rollercoaster every day, lesson plan in hand.
What Makes This Role Different:
This isn’t just another teaching job. It’s a front-row seat to some of the most transformative years in a child’s life. Our students are stretching, stumbling, questioning, and growing, and they need someone who can guide them with structure, humor, empathy, and strength.
We’re looking for a teacher who can…
Set clear expectations and boundaries without taking things personally. Bring structure and calm to a room full of energy, hormones, and dramatic pencil tapping. Design engaging lessons that respect students’ growing independence and still meet them where they are. Understand that classroom management is about consistency, not control.
Bonus Points If You:
- Have experience teaching in a private school setting.
- Can name at least three reasons why middle schoolers are the best kind of humans.
- Appreciate a good pun, understand the occasional need for a student reset day, and can gracefully handle both spilled water bottles and surprise “deep life questions” before 9:00 AM.
In Return, We Offer:
- A supportive, collaborative team that likes each other.
- Students who are spirited, curious, and genuinely hilarious.
- Professional growth and mentoring.
- A school culture that values the whole child; intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
Sound like your kind of challenge? Come teach with us. It’s never boring, and it’s always meaningful.
