Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for securing all material necessary to keep the production line operating on schedule as well as supporting the overall Factory operations. This role will negotiate pricing as well as delivery timing of specified products required for all phases of the production cycle. Inventory balance is managed according to production levels and backlogs. Just In Time delivery of the raw material is the goal of this department. The Purchasing Manager develops a strong relationship with vendors and the Company production department. This role will also manage a small team.
Primary Work Location: Romulus, Michigan and periodically to the Novi, Michigan offices.
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assess and assign work to appropriate staff, including offering training or assistance to complete the task if necessary.
- Develop work goals for purchasing staff.
- Participates in the hiring process and manages the Purchasing staff as needed.
- Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, providing ongoing feedback and corrective action according to policy.
Purchasing Management Responsibilities:
- Build an efficient smooth operating purchasing department including creating processes and supporting documents for inventory control, vendor purchase information, purchase orders, internal purchase employee job duties and follow up forms for change orders.
- Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Negotiates pricing as well as delivery of specified products required for all phases of the production cycle.
- Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
- Responsible for securing all material necessary to keep the production line running smoothly.

- Control purchasing department budgets.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying and storing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
- Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
- Administer on-line purchasing systems.
- Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Prepare bid awards requiring board approval.
- Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Quickly resolve any back orders or shortages from suppliers.
Other:
- Regular and predictable attendance within the Ginosko-assigned facilities.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Education/Certification/Licensing/Experience Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Experience: Ten years of experience in purchasing or related capacity, previous experience working with diverse populations preferred. Proven background in production environment. Experience in construction background, including familiarity with takeoffs is strongly preferred.
- Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record. Certificate of personal auto liability insurance.
