Campus Safety and Security Officer
Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety and Security, these positions perform a variety of tasks that assure and enhance the safety of the Girard College campus. The Girard College Campus operates a security force that is present twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. Each officer is scheduled to provide optimal support and coverage for the 43 acre campus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Gate Watch (vehicular/pedestrian traffic control)
- Campus patrol on foot and by vehicle
- Lodge Duty (greet visitors, maintain security log, answer trunk line telephones for campus).
- Monitor campus camera screens.
- Respond to and evaluate intrusion and fire/smoke alarms.
- Investigate safety incidents that may occur on campus (intrusions, disorderly conduct, reported conflicts, etc.).
- Lock or unlock facilities as needed.
- Review of current shift log with next shift officers (senior officer).
- Other duties as may be required or assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- 3 years previous security or related work experience required
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer relations skills
- Must be organized and detail oriented
- Ability to work in a child centered environment
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Physically able to walk, run, climb multiple staircases, bend, stoop and carry 40 pounds at minimum. (Able to complete the patrol circuit in 90 minutes.)
