What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher's Aide position at Girard School District?
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to operate a computer, read, and care for, and work with students, with and
without disabilities.
2. Have 2 years of college training, or current enrollment in a teacher education program
with a concentration in the departmental area under consideration or Credential of
Competency for Special Education Para Educators. (Available from the PA Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education), or
3. Possess an associate degree or higher, or
4. Meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a State or local assessment
5. Demonstrate aptitude for the work to be performed.
6. Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
7. CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification is required.
8. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
9. Instructional paraprofessionals, each school year, shall provide evidence of 20 hours of
staff development activities related to their assignment.
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator or their designee
RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is a list of examples of responsibilities designated to Girard School District Teacher Aides depending on actual assignment and location of assignment:
1. Able to supervise and/or assist students in all settings.
2. Able to re-teach students under the guidance of someone with proper certification in all settings.
3. Able to attend professional development opportunities when required.
4. Able to perform clerical duties across all departments and areas.
5. Able to assist students in need of special attention (including restraining students, and possibly personal care tasks such as toileting.)
6. Able to perform all assigned duties, by building principal or designee, efficiently, accurately, and in a positive manner.
