Primary Areas of Impact 

 

As a DEIA Specialist, you will:
•    Develop innovative training programs and resources to support a culture of inclusion and equity.
•    Actively engage with members and staff from diverse cultural, racial, and experiential backgrounds.
•    Advocate for removing barriers to participation, empowering members to reach their full potential.
•    Collaborate with staff and volunteers to deliver impactful projects aligned with our DEIA goals.

 

Your work will help operationalize our DEIA Commitment, making it a lived reality for our entire Girl Scout community.

 

Responsibilities 

In this role, you will:
•    Create and implement resources that promote DEIA principles among youth and adult members.
•    Streamline and share best practices to enhance cultural competencies across the Council.
•    Analyze feedback and data to inform and refine DEIA initiatives.
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate DEIA principles into short- and long-term plans.
•    Represent DEIA priorities in meetings and committees, advocating for diverse perspectives.
•    Perform additional projects and responsibilities as needed.

 

Who We’re Looking For

 

Experience:
•    A minimum of three years of experience in DEIA, youth inclusion, disability accommodations, community-building, or related fields.
Skills and Knowledge:
•    A solid understanding of youth and adult education methods, training practices, and tools.
•    Familiarity with youth development concepts and experience in youth-supporting fields.
•    Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to foster inclusivity.
•    Exceptional organizational and project coordination abilities, with a proven capacity to manage multiple priorities.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
•    Proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
Commitments and Expectations:
•    A deep dedication to DEIA efforts and the communities we serve.
•    Availability to travel throughout the Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital region as needed, including occasional evening and weekend meetings.
•    A willingness to maintain Girl Scout membership and embrace the movement’s values.
•    A positive attitude and resilience in overcoming challenges.
