The Regional Manager is responsible for overseeing membership engagement efforts in Adams, Centre, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Mifflin, and York counties. This includes supervising and providing direct support to Volunteer Support Coordinators, implementing the organization’s membership retention initiatives, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate positive member experiences. This position reports to the Director of Membership Engagement. Residence in the service area is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support leadership in the development and execution of membership engagement strategies designed to improve the overall experience for volunteers, girl members and their families, while ensuring the achievement of annual membership renewal goals.
- Work closely with the Director of Membership Engagement to implement and monitor key initiatives that enhance member retention and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with GSHPA departments and community organizations to boost the visibility of the Girl Scout program and provide resources to troop leaders.
- Provide supervision to direct reports, offering guidance and direction, and ensuring alignment on goals, initiatives, and membership engagement efforts across the region.
- Gather feedback and data to assess the needs and expectations of regional volunteers and Service Units and use this information to accomplish GSHPA’s goals.
- Support and assist Volunteer Support Coordinators with conflict management and participate in resolution processes as needed.
- Communicate consistently with staff, members, and volunteers in alignment with the leadership team and strategic goals, while representing GSHPA professionally and demonstrating a commitment to the Girl Scout mission.
- Be a proactive problem solver with a professional and helpful mindset to support direct reports and the volunteers they serve, addressing challenges and offering solutions in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure troop activities comply with GSUSA and GSHPA guidelines, GSUSA health and safety standards, and all relevant local, state, and federal laws.
- Stay informed on national and local trends, community issues, and GSUSA updates impacting program delivery, council services, and the Girl Scout program.
- Manage the schedules of Volunteer Support Coordinators to align with business needs, ensuring adequate coverage and support, and ensure timely completion of timesheets.
- Attend Girl Scout events and volunteer meetings throughout assigned region.
- Attend virtual and in person meetings within or outside the council territory as required.
- Handle sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of council-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams to further the mission of GSHPA.
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience (a minimum of 6 years of supervisory experience at a non-profit in lieu of a degree may be considered).
- A minimum of 2 years of management and supervisory experience, preferably in a non-profit or member-based organization.
- Experience providing coaching and performance-based feedback, both formally and informally, to support staff development and improvement.
- Demonstrated abilities in planning, project management, supervision, team building, conflict management, and performance management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail, including proofreading; able to communicate clearly in public settings and across various channels (in-person, phone, email, virtual meetings).
- Ability to effectively identify, analyze, and solve problems; use sound judgment and critical thinking in decision-making.
- Highly proficient in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting platforms, and CRM systems (Salesforce experience preferred).
- Analytical skills with the ability to understand and apply data.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of work and manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a professional manner.

- Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed; travel throughout the council as required.
- Pass and maintain required background clearances.
