Experience a summer of “Big Dreams, Big Possibilities!” Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines seeks dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to be part of our 2025 Summer Camp Team at Camp Mary Atkinson in Selma, NC,

We have an opening for a Lifeguard at our residential camp at Camp Mary Atkinson in Selma, NC.


The Lifeguard is responsible for the implementation of camp aquatic programs and safety regulations. The Lifeguard ensures campers are safe and follow safety rules and guidelines at all waterfront activities.


Position: Lifeguard

Location:  Camp Mary Atkinson, Selma, NC

Duration: Summer 2025 (May-August)

Compensation: The hourly rate of pay is $18.00.


We’re excited to offer all employees the opportunity to earn a $500 BONUS this summer!

Here’s how it works: 

  • $250 Mid-Summer Bonus: If hired, you will receive this at the end of June.
  • $250 Completion Bonus: Earn this at the end of summer camp completion.


A Day in the Life:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers in and around the aquatic area
  • Monitor aquatics activities and enforce safety rules and regulations
  • Respond quickly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents that may occur
  • Assist in the opening and closing of the waterfront for the summer and daily
  • Provide immediate support and assist campers with any questions or concerns
  • Administer CPR and first aid, when necessary, respond to emergencies and work with local rescue agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Camp Director.

Requirements

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visas at this time. 

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a certified lifeguard with current CPR and First Aid certifications and waterfront lifeguarding (or ability to obtain it) 
  • Strong swimming skills and ability to perform rescues if needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Small watercraft experience (kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding) a plus or willingness to be trained. 
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
  • Deliver a fun program to Girl Scouts. Ensure activities are planned and implemented that meet the needs of the participants of the event.
  • Ensure a quality program that is safe is being offered by the event staff.
  • Ensure that adult volunteers and girls know and follow safety and educational procedures during programs.
  • Role model appropriate attitude and behavior to all participants and staff.
  • Professionally handles interactions with all entities (girls, parents, volunteers, staff, and program partners).
  • Maintains accurate record-keeping systems, including membership information, program evaluation data, and budget, as assigned.
  • Promotes acceptance and understanding of girls from all backgrounds.
  • Assists with the preparation and on-site support of events and activities as needed.
  • Commitment to GSNCCP and GSUSA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Racial Justice (DEIB/RJ) initiatives.
  • Supports and assists the program staff in its efforts to achieve stated Council goals.
  • Follows established personnel policies and health, safety, and program standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
