Job Description
Job Title : Health and Safety Specialist FLSA Status : Seasonal
Department : Camp Services Reports To : Camp Manager
Location : Kodosky Service Center Rate : $500 / week
Job Purpose : The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for the total program of health education and safety practices of the entire camp. The Health and Safety Specialist promotes unity, positivity, and customer-friendly service throughout all facets of the camp.
Essential Functions
- Promote and support Girl Scout program philosophies of the GSUSA & GSCTX.
- Responsible for maintaining camp health center supplies and equipment inventory and replacement.
- Responsible for being accessible at all times for treatment and emergency.
- Administer all medications and treatments according to physician’s orders and maintain records of all treatment.
- Responsible for all medications including records, dispensing and locked control.
- Responsible for general health supervision of the entire camp.
- Responsible for health and first aid instruction upon request to staff and campers.
- Responsible for completing incident forms, accident forms and required documentation upon illness or injury of camper or staff.
- Responsible for reporting major illnesses and injuries to Day Camp Manager.
- Responsible for the filing system of health forms and confidential paperwork.
- Work with and teach children ages six through seventeen.
- Provide quality customer service that resolves concerns in a timely manner.
- Engages in problem-solving skills, by clarifying desired information, researching, locating and delivering findings and solutions.
- Displays professional demeanor, and integrity at all times.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity.
- Adheres to the policies of the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and promotes Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public as well as to all internal and external customers.
- Performs other duties or assists with other projects as assigned.
