Job Description
Job Title: Summer Camp Supervising Nurse FLSA Status: Seasonal
Department: Camp Services Reports To: Camp Services Director
Location: Remote
Job Purpose: The Overnight Summer Camp Supervising Nurse is responsible for checking in daily via video call with the Health & Safety Managers of each Overnight Camp to discuss the days cases, any medication administration questions and any other issues that may have arisen. They are responsible for helping ensure that camp follows Texas State Health Services Youth Licensing regulations, American Camp Association standards, and GSCTX camp standing orders.
Essential Functions
- Consults with Health & Safety Managers on all medication administration questions for campers and employees.
- Consults on treatments provided according to physician’s orders.
- Maintains effective working relationships with Health & Safety employees.
- Ensures camp is providing quality and safe care for all campers by following all policies, procedures, protocols, and health and safety standards of GSCTX, American Camp Association, Texas State Health Services, and Safety Activity Checkpoints
- Engages in problem-solving skills, by clarifying desired information, researching, locating and delivering findings and solutions.
- Displays professional demeanor, and integrity at all times.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity.
- Adheres to the policies of the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and promotes Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public as well as to all internal and external customers.
- Performs other duties or assists other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2025.
- Texas state license as: physician, physician’s assistant, or registered nurse.
- Current certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid and Personal Safety and American Red Cross or American Heart association CPR.
- Knowledgeable in safe use and storage of medicines, pesticides, and other chemicals.
- Adheres to Personnel Policies for Seasonal Camp Staff.
- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision, as well as take initiative in making decisions.
- Ability to adapt to various camp work situations.
- Proven emotional stability needed to meet emergencies with good judgment.
- Ability to make a commitment to the philosophy of Girl Scouting, both nationally and locally.
- Satisfactory results from a criminal background check are required.
- Camp experience preferred.
Education
- Required education for state licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Physical Requirements
- This is largely a sedentary role but involves walking or standing for brief periods of time.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology.
- Normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities, finger dexterity and repetitive hand motions for manual manipulation of a keyboard or mouse.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas and can understand, remember, and communicate routine information.
- Ability to compose material such as operating procedures, communications, detailed reports, and other documentation.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
