Position Summary
The Director, Facilities plans, oversees, and directs the operations of Council facilities to ensure the physical environment is safe, welcoming, and efficient for all Council stakeholders. This position has leadership responsibility for capital project planning and management, maintenance operations, fleet management, grounds, occupancy and space management, and security.
At Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, most of our roles work in a hybrid capacity (in office, remote, and/or in the field). Details will be provided during the interview process.

The position is full time with a competitive starting salary at $98,191 per year!
Essential Job Duties
- Leads the planning, development, communication, and implementation of strategic capital and operational facilities projects and facilities goals.
- Leads master facility planning for the Council including the service center, program center, and camps to ensure utilization is efficient, cost effective, and supports the workflow of the organization.
- Leads efforts to set priorities for repairs, upgrades, and replacements in building systems, fleet, and equipment and to assess existing conditions, life cycle costs, and deferred maintenance to ensure optimal condition and safety standards are met to support the needs of the organization.
- Effectively leads organizational change through clear and articulate assignments and expectations of others.
- Fosters effective communication with key stakeholders and supports appropriate involvement in planning and operations.
- Demonstrates strategic and critical thinking from the systems perspective, including integrating efforts across departments and facilities, sharing information, and negotiating and balancing multiple organizational needs and priorities. Exhibits ability to rapidly identify issues and critical success factors and integrate ideas to shape and influence strategy.
- Understands and supports the core business by ensuring that the facilities and services match the needs of the stakeholders.
- Promotes and fosters an environment of engagement and professional development. Ensures that employees, stakeholders, members, and guests view the Facilities staff as collaborative and continually improving processes that enhance the physical environment and services provided.
- Works collaboratively with Senior Rangers and Director, Camping Services on capital projects at camp facilities
- Possesses strong business acumen to handle financial-related functions from operating budget to capital planning, business plan proposals, and cost efficiency.
- Directs and coordinates the operations of assigned areas including recruiting and managing staff, financial management, internal policy development, and related issues.
- Ensures all facilities and fleet meet regulatory requirements and appropriate building codes and guidelines.
- Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experiece may be considered.
- Ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in facilities management, preferrably in a camp or recreation environment.
- Red Cross First/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of employment.
- Class E driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
Is frequently required to sit and operate a computer.
Is frequently required to talk and hear, stand and walk, sit and use hands to manipulate and feel.
Is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
Is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must have the following vision abilities: close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
Is required to drive/operate an automobile.
Work Environment
Frequently required to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, and dust. May be exposed to vibration and oils. May occasionally be required to work near moving mechanical parts and in a high place.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct reporting responsibilities.
