Job Title : Assistant Camp Director - Kateri (Seasonal - Residential)

Compensation : $650 per week
Position Summary
The Assistant Camp Director assists the Camp Director with Girl Scouts of Gateway Councils (GSGCs) residential camp activities and supports the overall camp program management within GSGC guidelines and objectives. The Assistant Director will assist the Camp Director with supervision of camp staff employees and / or volunteers; collaboration with Council staff members; development of innovative camp program curriculum : communication program objectives and outcomes to girls, parents, and community partners; ensuring the safety of the campers at all times. This is an 8-week residential position that will run June 8th, 2025 Aug. 1st, 2025, and includes room and meals for the duration of the summer sessions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Camp Director Assists with the following :
- Direction of the day-to-day operations of Camp Kateri.
- Supervision of the Activity Instructors and Unit Leaders in their day-to-day program implementation.
- Management of the camp program to meet objectives and the budgetary accountability of the program.
- Assisting the Program Manager with development of program curriculum and operational procedures for camp programs.
- Communication of any program, facility or staffing concerns / needs with the Program Manager.
- The training and supervision of seasonal camp staff. Evaluation of staff performance mid-season and at the end of camp.
- Ensuring that Girl Scouts and American Camping Association camp standards are maintained.
- Upholding safety in the camp program by conducting safety training with staff and camp attendees.
- Ensuring that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter
- Evaluating outcomes at end of camp to ensure best practices are captured and improvements for next year are noted.
- Providing Program Manager / Camp Director with supply lists for crafts and activities.
- Maintaining accurate records, including health forms, permission slips, and child release forms and provides timely statistical and activity reports on day camp participants.
