About the Role
Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana is seeking a full-time Assistant Kitchen Manager to support day-to-day operations of our overnight camp food service for adults and youth. Key responsibilities include assisting with menu planning, preparing 3 daily meals, maintaining and cleaning an industrial kitchen, ensuring health and safety standards, and more.
The primary function of this role is to provide exceptional service to each member, guest, and visitor. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and participating in the preparation of daily camp food service operations, working with the Kitchen Manager to plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals, and ensuring special dietary needs are met.
This position offers a unique opportunity to foster personal growth while enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere. As a member of the camp staff, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and safe environment for campers while enjoying room, board, and most meals during the camp season.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 months of customer service experience, minimum of 6 months of experience in an industrial kitchen, and prior experience cooking and serving 50-150 people per day. They must also possess or be willing to obtain Safe-Serve food safety certification and current First Aid/CPR certification.
The Assistant Kitchen Manager typically works non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and may sleep in the Lodge or nearby. The camp kitchen is air-conditioned, has manual and mechanical food service equipment, and requires strong communication, written, and public speaking skills.
