Job Summary:
The Cleaning and Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across the camp, including bathrooms, showers, sleeping areas, kitchens, and other common spaces. This role also involves performing maintenance tasks on camp buildings, structures, and equipment, as well as seasonal grounds and roadwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Clean bathrooms, showers, hallways, kitchens, sleeping areas, and other common spaces.
- Follow manufacturer instructions for using approved cleaning products and supplies.
- Regularly check and restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms.
- Check and empty trash in buildings.
- Notify the Sr. Property Specialist of any maintenance issues or required repairs.
Supply Management:
- Monitor stock levels and compile cleaning supply orders.
- Launder cleaning rags and mops as needed.
- Perform tasks assigned by the Sr. Property Specialist or Property Manager.
Repairs & Grounds Maintenance:
- Perform interior and exterior repairs, maintenance, and custodial work on camp buildings and structures.
- Maintain and repair camp equipment, such as docks, bikes, outdoor power equipment, and other tools.
- Assist with seasonal grounds and roadwork, including mowing, trimming, and road maintenance.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Diversity & Inclusion: Support the councils commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, racial justice, and anti-racism with cultural competency.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues and attend all-staff meetings, staff training, and other relevant meetings.
- Customer Service: Represent the council professionally to both internal and external audiences.
- Mission Alignment: Support the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and contribute to creating a positive and flexible staff environment.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid drivers license and ability to drive council vehicles safely.
- Must be able to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to follow instructions and use cleaning products safely.
- Knowledge of best practices for cleaning various surfaces and facility spaces.
- Ability to interact positively with youth and adults.
- Ability to work inclusively with individuals of all backgrounds, including race, age, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
