The Social Media Coordinator at Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNorCal) is responsible for creating, managing, and coordinating social media content across all platforms, reporting to the Creative Content Manager. This role is hybrid in the Bay Area and requires close proximity to the Alameda office and reliable transportation for commuting around Northern California. This role requires attending monthly in-office meetings in Alameda and availability to attend events or filming opportunities approximately 4-6 times per month.
The Social Media Coordinator is a highly organized, creative individual who excels at engaging audiences on social channels. This position involves developing and scheduling trend-driven social media content, collaborating with team members and stakeholders to produce engaging posts, stories, and videos that strengthen GSNorCal’s branding and messaging.
Job Accountabilities
- Create fun, trend-driven video content that highlights the Girl Scouts’ mission and activities, driving engagement on our social pages.
- Keep up with trends to ensure our content feels fresh and current.
- Work closely with the Creative Content Manager to support the Media Squad program to develop girl-forward content, which includes, but is not limited to, writing creative briefs, following up on content creation, and attending and supporting the facilitation of Media Squad meetings.
- Write short, engaging captions and on-screen text that complement content.
- Work with the team to brainstorm creative ideas that showcase Girl Scouts’ impact.
- Review and in some cases report on post-performance and engagement to inform future content creation.
- Engage daily with the Girl Scout social media community by liking, sharing and commenting on posts from other councils and community members, including responding to comments and DMs in a timely manner.
- Search for and identify Girl Scout-related content to share on GSNorCal’s social media pages, fostering a supportive and connected online presence.
