Job Summary:
The Donor Engagement & Events Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting donor relations, stewardship, and event coordination to strengthen engagement and philanthropy at Girl Scouts of Northern California. This role requires an organized and energetic professional with experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and event logistics. The Senior Manager will collaborate with internal teams to enhance donor relationships, execute engaging events, and support fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Management:
- Maintain accurate donor records and ensure data integrity in Blackbaud/NXT/Raiser’s Edge.
- Track donor trends and provide insights to support fundraising strategies.
- Produce timely and accurate weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports for Fund Development department, Board of Directors, and other GSNorCal staff/volunteers, and provide or guide other data reporting requests as needed.
- Assist with gift processing, pledge tracking, and donor data management.
- Work with Fund Development, Program, and Marketing teams to develop processes for donor engagement activities.
Donor Engagement & Communication:
- Manage donor relationships by tracking engagement, interests, and giving history through Raiser’s Edge NXT Database.
- Support donor recognition programs and giving circles to foster continued philanthropy.
- Create donor communications, including acknowledgments, impact reports, and personalized outreach.
- Coordinate donor engagement mailings, including event invitations, and appeals.
- Assist with stewardship activities such as thank-you calls, handwritten notes, and donor spotlights.
- Work with internal teams to ensure timely and meaningful donor touchpoints.
- Write and edit communication pieces as needed such as donor and community newsletters.
Event Management:
- Plan and execute donor engagement and stewardship events, including Donor Appreciation events and socials.
- Lead efforts for a successful fundraising event; in conjunction with other development staff and key stakeholders.
- Manage event logistics including coordinating staff/volunteers who will manage various aspects of the event
- Work with the Senior Director of Community Engagement & Individual Philanthropy to develop and execute event programs and run-of-show.
- Oversee post-event communications, including thank-you outreach and impact follow-ups.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to develop event-related materials and promotions.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- A strong affinity for youth development and leadership with a deep motivation to help develop girls of courage, confidence, and character
- Proven ability to create and successfully execute a multi-strategy, annual giving plan
- 3-5 years of experience in Fund Development managing direct and varied areas of Annual Giving/Stewardship/Events in a complex organization
- Demonstrated comfort with creating direct mail and other giving appeals on different platforms.
- A track record of successful collaboration with marketing, program, and finance departments
- Experience in analyzing giving reports and a proven ability to recognize trends and make informed decisions to reach fundraising goals.
- With limited supervision, high comfort level working with stakeholders at all levels Board Members, Volunteers, Internal Stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision-making, and multitasking skills.
- High-level computer literacy and proficiency with fundraising databases and the MS Office suite of software applications. Experience using Raiser’s Edge/NXT fundraising software preferred or similar CRM tool for fundraising.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse employee, volunteer, and donor population and a willingness to participate in the movement to build diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through our commitment to the practice of anti-racism.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, English or other relevant liberal arts or business major, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Northern California donor market
- Knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy, standards, programs and systems
