We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members.
Position Summary:
The Build A Bear Party Coordinator (per diem) will be the point of contact at our Riverdale Service Center for all Build A Bear parties, welcoming and assisting customers and providing support to volunteers and other staff.
Schedule: Mostly on weekends and some weeknights
Weekly hours – 0 to 15 hours per week
Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate & Execute Build A Bear parties with volunteers & girls
- Supervise program participants and ensure party area is safe for participants
- Maintain an energetic and positive attitude throughout the party
- Engage all guests during the party through the use of activities and party games
- Prepare the party area with tables, chairs, and any necessary equipment
- Ensure that all party supplies and materials are ready before the event starts
- Verify that the venue adheres to safety and cleanliness standards
- Greet party hosts and guests upon arrival, making them feel welcome and comfortable
- Provide assistance to guests as needed and answer any questions they may have
- Foster a positive and engaging environment by interacting with children and adults alike
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing any concerns or issues that arise during the event
- Handle difficult situations professionally and maintain a positive attitude
- Follow the party schedule to ensure that activities occur on time
- Communicate effectively with party hosts and guests to keep them informed about the schedule
- Efficiently clean and reset the party area after each event, including disposing of trash and cleaning surfaces
- Organize and store party supplies for future events
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Bend, stoop, and kneel as necessary during event setup and cleanup
- Ring up and assists customers with sales in the council shop
- Monitor inventory, restock, and relay needs to shop associate for ordering
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of and experience with customer service, retail and/or sales.
- Must be available to work on weekends and some weeknights.
- Enthusiasm for working with children and the ability to engage with diverse age groups.
- A positive attitude, integrity, and interest in helping girls reach their fullest potential.
- Excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and active listening skills.
- Ability to be creative and flexible in responding to changing priorities and emerging needs.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize and meet deadlines, and to manage several activities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, and auto insurance.
