Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment!? Lake Rickabear Day Camp sits on 332 acres of land including a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for swimming, pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating.
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Head Unit Leader will oversee the CIT program. They will focus on mentoring and enriching the educational opportunities for CITs offered at camp using the Girl Scout Program.??
Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Camp Director
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervise, mentor, and support the CITs, providing constructive feedback on participation and behavior management.
- Brainstorm, develop, and execute the CIT program.
- Work with the Assistant Director, Program Director, and Head Unit Leaders to ensure success for the CITs.?
- Keep records and make reports as required.
- Responds to emergencies and communicate all necessary procedures to the unit to ensure safety. (ex. Lost Camper)
- Assist with opening and closing of camp including needed inventories and reports.
- Act as liaison between CITs and unit staff.
- Must be able to stay and sleep over for at least one out of the three overnights
- Must be able to stay at camp until the end of campfire for the overnights
- Follow all procedures established in the Camp Communicable Disease Plan to mitigate risks associated with communicable diseases including Covid19. Ensure these procedures are being implemented by unit staff?
- Promote high camper and staff morale.
- Perform other duties as requested by Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Program Director.
Requirements
- Minimum age: ?18 years of age and completed one year of college or similar work experience?
- The applicant must be a veteran RKDC staff member.?
- Ability to motivate and provide constructive feedback to staff.?
- Knowledge of the Girl Scout program.??
- Ability to make good judgment regarding health and safety procedures, and crisis situations.??
- Hold or be willing to obtain current certification of standard First Aid and CPR (training to be provided).??????
Physical Requirements
- ?Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.?
- Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions.?
- Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.?
Daily Rate: $123 (new staff) - $135 per day (returning staff). This is based on a 8 hour work day, which translates to $15.38 - $16.88 hourly respectively.
