Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment! Lake Rickabear Day Camp sits on 332 acres of land including a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for swimming, pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating. The Kitchen Manager directs the overall food-service operation of the camp including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, security, customer service, and record keeping
Direct Supervisor: Camp Director
Kitchen Manager Responsibilities:
- Support camp administrative staff as needed
- Submit pre-camp shopping list to Business Manager
- Attend pre-camp training
- Purchase and organize food purchased for pre-camp and start of camp
- Keep inventory of food and supervise safe storage of all food supplies in accordance with ACA and NJ Department of Health standards
- Collect cook-out orders, check menus, and make shopping lists
- Purchase or order all food and beverages for cookouts and overnights
- Submit food orders to Food Distribution Company for delivery at camp
- Submit invoices for all food and beverages to Business Manager
- Plan, purchase or order and distribute daily snacks
- Work with Health Office Supervisor to review weekly camper allergy list and provide alternate food for those campers with allergies, if needed
- Organize and distribute lunch service meals
- Must stay until food is away and kitchen is clean on overnights
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must have or are committed to becoming ServSafe certified before start of the camp.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be attentive and timely
- Regularly speak, read, write, interpret, and respond to words in the English language
- Experience performing administrative tasks strongly preferred
- Must be able to communicate well with other staff and community partners
- Hold or be willing to obtain current certification of standard First Aid and CPR and ServSafe (training to be provided).
Physical Requirements
- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
- Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.
Daily Rate: $118 (new staff) - $123 per day (returning staff). This is based on a 7.5 hour work day, which translates to $15.73 - $16.40 hourly respectively.
