Description
Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment! Lake Rickabear Day Camp sits on 332 acres of land including a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for swimming, pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating. The Lifeguard will provide campers with organized and educational waterfront programs in a safe manner. Programs include swimming classes, boating classes and free swim periods
Immediate Supervisor : Waterfront Director
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Attend all sessions required of position at Pre-Camp Orientation
- Must follow and enforce all safety rules and regulations of the waterfront.
- Must follow the guidelines of the American Red Cross in swimming and boating instruction procedures.
- Must be always alert to the campers in the water and their needs.
- Must assist with the buddy system and checks.
- Lead or assist in leading swimming lessons.
- Lead or assist in oversight of boating activities as needed.
- Keep the Waterfront Director posted on any problems regarding waterfront procedures.
- Responsible for keeping the entire beach and boating area clean.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of waterfront equipment.
- Takes an active part in all camp activities.
- Assists the Program Director and the unit staff with rainy day programs.
- Must learn and perform emergency procedures effectively.
- Promote high camper and staff moral
- Maintains an elevated level of efficiency by participating in all scheduled activities, in-service training (ie : Practice drills, endurance swimming).
- Must wear uniform bathing suit, shorts, whistle, and identifiable waterfront lifeguard shirt while on duty (shirt provided by Lake Rickabear Day Camp).
- In response to COVID-19 outbreak, follow all procedures established in the Camp Communicable Disease Plan.
- If 18 years old or older must be able to stay and sleep over for at least one out of the three overnights
- Performs other duties as requested by Waterfront Director and Camp Director.

Physical Requirements
Daily Rate : $115 (new staff) - $125 per day (returning staff). This is based on a 7.5 hour work day, which translates to $15.33 - $16.67 hourly respectively.
