Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is seeking a passionate and experienced Pickleball Specialist to lead and grow our pickleball program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pickleball rules, techniques, and strategies, along with experience in coaching or program coordination. This role involves planning and conducting lessons and fostering an inclusive and engaging environment for players of all skill levels of the Girl Scout community.

Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project. We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 18,000 girls and 10,000 adult members.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct group pickleball lessons for players of all skill levels
- Develop and implement age-appropriate structured training programs and clinics
- Maintain a welcoming and encouraging environment for participants
- Provide guidance on proper techniques, footwork, strategy, and game rules
- Monitor player progress and offer feedback for improvement
- Ensure the safety of all participants and enforce facility and GSNNJ rules
- Maintain equipment and coordinate court reservations as needed
- Collaborate with the Camp Director to enhance the program and meet community needs
- Effectively communicate and work with a diverse group of staff and campers (background/abilities) to encourage full participation in Girl Scouting
- Maintain communication with leaders and volunteers regarding participants’ behavior and supervision
- Conduct safety orientation of equipment and safety procedures
- Promote high morale
Requirements
- 18 years of age.
- Prior experience in playing and/or coaching pickleball
- Certification from a recognized pickleball organization and/or Phys Ed teaching certification is preferred but not required
- Ability to develop programs for Pickleball
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with players of various skill levels and ages
- Ability to use sound judgment regarding safety procedures
- Must be in adequate physical condition to perform duties
- Knowledge of Girl Scouting (or willingness to learn) leadership skills, and proven instructional experience
- Must be available for either the Fall or Spring Rental Seasons on Saturdays and Sundays
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet
- The candidate must have experience working with children
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Immediate Supervisor:
- During Program Hours: Site Manager
- Outside of Program Hours: Camp Director and/or Outdoor Program Manager
