Description
Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment! At Jockey Hollow, there are 212 pristine acres to explore and enjoy. With a large "L"-shaped swimming pool, Low Ropes Challenge Course and Zip Line, beautiful equestrian center, archery range, playing field, and adventurous hiking trails, the fun is endless!
The Program Director will be responsible for coordinating and developing camp wide programs. They will focus on enriching campers' experiences by providing organized programs and all camp events to the day camp. They also oversee unit operations with Unit Leaders and Assistant Unit Leaders.
Immediate Supervisor: Camp Director
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Works with Camp Director in the planning and lead implementation of general unit program, theme activities, and theme days with the appropriate administrative staff.
- Attend all sessions required of position at Pre-Camp Orientation
- Works Cooperatively with GSNNJ Administrative staff, and rangers to ensure the highest level of safety, health, and activities for campers, and staff.
- Works with Head Unit Leaders on schedules, bus changes, and program ideas and needs.
- Offers assistance to units and reviews their weekly schedules.
- Works with Head Unit Leaders to brainstorm, develop, and execute badgework for units.
- Maintains master schedules of activities, and sites in use.
- Develops list of needs for: Business Manager, and Rangers of needed supplies.
- Develops Rainy Day Schedules with Head Unit Leaders, and Directors
- Effectively respond to council, camper, parent, and staff concerns when in office area.
- Promotes high camper and staff morale.
- Must be able to stay and sleep over for at least one out of the three overnights
- Must be able to stay at camp until the end of campfire for the overnights not staying overnight for
- Performs other duties as requested by Camp Director.
- Follow all procedures established in the Camp Communicable Disease Plan to mitigate risks associated with communicable diseases including Covid19. Make suggestions to improve Communicable Disease Plan or implementation of the Plan.
- Supervises and evaluates specialists.
Requirements
- Minimum Age: 18 years of age
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to organize, schedule and develop program for special program units and all camp activities.
- Ability to motivate staff and
- Exercise good judgment regarding health and safety procedures and crisis situations. Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred.
- Must have proven leadership and training in all areas of program and supervision.
- Hold or be willing to obtain current certification of standard First Aid and CPR (training to be provided).
Physical Requirements
- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
- Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.
Daily Rate: $164 (new staff) - $169 per day (returning staff). This is based on a 8.5 hour work day, which translates to $19.29 - $19.88 hourly respectively.
