What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custom Apparel Creator/Sales Associate position at Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways?
Self-motivated and outgoing professional with strong communication skills who will be responsible for the creation of custom clothing and ensures that the products meet quality standards. Assists the Retail Director with acquiring sales both through our membership and outside sales. Oversees the production process from start to finish and ensures each customer has an amazing experience. Attend events and create custom apparel for customers while they wait. Create mockups on design software, work on apparel and logo designs, assist with brand identity, and communicate with the client to understand their vision.
Production: You will be responsible for importing designs into the cutting software and using the vinyl cutter and heat press machine to apply designs to various garments. Use fine motor skills to remove vinyl designs from backing material. Ordering designs from outside vendors as needed. Maintain inventory and order appropriate levels of apparel. Package and ship orders in a timely manner.
Assist Retail Director with acquiring business from our membership and outside businesses and organizations. Schedule outside in person appointments on a weekly basis and/or warm calling.
Work with Designer to ensure appropriate designs for apparel in accordance with brand standards.
Quality control: produce high-quality products and ensure all deadlines are met You may also be responsible for testing designs to ensure the end product meets the needs of customers. Knowledge of which products and materials are best suited to each job. Consistent and timely communication with customers throughout the ordering process to ensure we are meeting and/or exceeding expectations.
Maintenance and upkeep: You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the machinery. You need to troubleshoot machines for any malfunctions or irregularities and notify supervisor immediately. Ensuring that the machines run smoothly is a key part of your role.
Retail store operations: Will be required to learn procedures and be available as a backup to the retail store staff.
Record Keeping and Reporting: Will complete all daily paperwork in a timely manner and ensure the accounting department has everything they need to ensure proper record keeping.
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred or willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently.
Strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Valid drivers license with ability to travel and drive to events throughout our 26 counties.
Prior knowledge of design software or the willingness to learn.
Evening and weekend availability
