Your Role:
As the Community Engagement Manager, you will lead a team of Community Engagement Specialists in executing recruitment efforts and promoting Girl Scouting through various channels. This role requires a strong background in event planning, team leadership, inside and outside sales, MEDDIC qualification skills, and effective communication. You will be pivotal in driving membership growth and engagement by coordinating with families, community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders invested in youth development.

How You Will Succeed:
You will leverage your extensive experience in event planning, sales, and team management to develop and implement SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) recruitment strategies. By fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within your team, you will execute digital initiatives, host signature events, and collaborate closely with Service Unit Volunteers, Outdoor Program, and Communications teams to exceed recruitment goals.

Competencies & Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of five Community Engagement Specialists.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values creativity and continuous improvement.
  • Recruitment and Membership Growth:
    • Ensure the team meets annual membership goals for youth and adults.
    • Strategically identify prospects and implement effective sales strategies to convert leads into memberships.
    • Supervise planning and execution of recruitment events, presentations, and community engagement activities.
  • Event Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar of recruitment events.
    • Ensure all events, whether in-person or virtual, are well attended and provide an engaging and informative experience for attendees.
  • Sales and Marketing Strategy:
    • Implement recruitment marketing strategies outlined in the Community Engagement V2MoM and council plan.
    • Utilize MEDDIC qualification skills to manage potential leads and ensure accurate data entry into Salesforce.
    • Analyze membership data to inform strategic recruitment decisions.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Represent the Girl Scout brand in building and nurturing relationships with local community partners, youth-serving organizations, and other entities.
    • Lead regular community listening sessions to understand needs and recommend solutions.
    • Collaborate with Girl Scout staff to innovate and scale opportunities for girls in the community.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for your team, focusing on DEI, youth development, and leadership skills.

 

Your Expertise:

  • Experience:
    • At least eight (8) years of relevant education and experience, including:
      • 5 years in community engagement, youth development, sales, and/or recruitment.
      • 3 years leading a team of people.
    • Proven track record in effective event planning and team leadership.
  • Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in event planning and execution.
    • Effective use of MEDDIC qualification and sales strategies.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines independently.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strategy and Data:
    • Ability to develop data-driven strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Commitment:
    • Strong commitment to youth development and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in community initiatives.
  • Bonus Qualifications:
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
    • Knowledge of the Girl Scout organization and mission.
    • Proven success in driving event attendance and generating leads quickly.
    • Understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
    • Preferred bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, or related field; equivalent work experience considered.
    • Sander Training certified


What You Will Achieve in Your First Year:

  • First 30 Days:
    • Complete comprehensive onboarding and familiarize yourself with Girl Scouts mission and programs.
    • Build rapport with your team and key collaborators.
    • Assess current recruitment strategies and processes.
  • First 60 Days:
    • Develop a roadmap for upcoming recruitment events and initiatives.
    • Implement strategies to optimize team performance and collaboration.
    • Attend and evaluate initial recruitment events.
  • First 90 Days:
    • Lead the execution of major recruitment events and campaigns.
    • Analyze initial outcomes and adjust strategies as needed.
    • Strengthen relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • First Year:
    • Exceed membership goals for your assigned territory.
    • Innovate and implement new recruitment strategies based on data and feedback.
    • Foster a culture of excellence and inclusivity within your team.

 

The Details:

  • Compensation:
    • Exempt/salaried, starting at $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on qualifications, plus quarterly performance bonuses. An additional $1.25 per hour for Spanish language skills at a conversational level or better.
  • Benefits:

  • Hours:
    • Full-time business hours, with some flexibility. Occasional travel and event attendance, including weekends and evenings.
  • Location:
    • Regular job duties can be performed remotely if you meet internet connectivity standards, in any of our Service Centers throughout Oregon, or in a hybrid setting, based on your preference. You must live in Oregon or Southwest Washington. This role also required occasional travel, including overnight and long-distance travel. All staff are required to participate in in-person meetings, events, work assignments, and retreats, the frequency and location of which is determined by business needs.
