Job Overview
Camp St. Albans, a 414-acre summer camp located on the shores of Lake Devereaux, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Waterfront Activities Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership staff, you will be responsible for planning and delivering water-based activities that promote fun, safety, and camaraderie among our campers.

Responsibilities
- Oversee Water-Based Programming: Develop and implement weekly waterfront schedules in coordination with department directors, ensuring a safe and engaging experience for campers.
- Schedule and Supervise Staff: Schedule, observe, and evaluate waterfront specialists, boating specialists, and lifeguards, providing regular feedback and coaching to enhance their performance.
- Maintain Equipment and Facilities: Manage physical equipment in waterfront areas, including inventory, daily safety checks, and ordering repairs or new equipment as needed.
- Assist with Training and Development: Assist in training summer camp staff in waterfront support, program safety, and policies and procedures.
- Support Overall Camp Operations: Assist the Camp Director with managing the overall camp operation, including check-in and check-out, bus supervision, and camp cleaning.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent, at least 21 years old, experience working with youth aged 6-17, experience working in a summer camp setting or similar.
- Lifeguarding and Boating Experience: Current certification in American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding or willingness to obtain, experience lifeguarding and boating on similar waterfronts.
- Supervisory Experience: Experience supervising staff, particularly in a summer camp setting.
Working Environment: Summer camp is a fast-paced outdoor working environment with 24-hour-a-day responsibilities. Employees are frequently exposed to loud noises, sensory stimulating situations, and physically demanding activities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with working outside in all weather conditions, residing in non-air-conditioned rustic open-air living quarters, and demonstrating emotional resiliency and regulation to handle extended stressful situations.
Salary: $122-$132 per day
