The ideal candidate should be…
- At least 21 years of age.
- Excited to be outdoors and work with youth.
- Interested or experienced in camp and guiding youth in a variety of activity.
- Energetic and has a desire to grow future girl leaders.
- Visual/auditory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards.
- Ability to respond calmly in a crisis situation.
- Excellent customer service, including the ability to maintain a calm demeanor with adults in conflict.
- Certified or able to become Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
- Willing to stay in Mindoro, WI for the entire summer and live onsite with our campers.
- Be or become USA Archery Level 1 certified.
- Available May 26th-August 8th, 2025.
What you will do:
- Set and maintain standards for target sports programs that are safe, creative, fun, and educational.
- Manage activity supervision and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
- Plan and facilitate all target sports activities, including archery, sling shots, and hatchets.
- Ensure sufficient and functional supplies for target sports, requesting supply orders from the Program Director.
- Keep accurate records of camper achievements, inventory, and supply lists.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly program area, including storage areas, shooting lanes, targets, shooting decks, equipment, etc.
- Provide observation and supervision to staff members who work in your program area: providing instruction, delegation, coaching, encouragement, and correction as necessary.
- Supervise and assist with unit cleaning, sanitation, care of supplies, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist in supervision of campers to cover for breaks of other camp staff.
- Give instructions to campers and camp staff, using authority when necessary.
- Ensure implementation of Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Participate in pre-camp staff training.
- Assist in the opening and closing procedures of camp.
- Comprehend and implement emergency procedures, through regular practice drills.
- Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
Physical & Other Requirements:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:
- Living and sleeping in a rustic outdoor environment.
- Working irregular hours: early mornings, nights, and weekends.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
- Walking, hiking, and working outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.
