Position Summary
This seasonal full-time position provides specialized programming in hands-on arts and crafts to enhance campers' experience. The successful candidate will be an active participant in the campers' experience and camp community, upholding all policies, procedures, and safety standards for the wellbeing of campers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement arts and crafts programing that aligns with camp curriculum.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inventoried facility, equipment, and supplies; report needed repairs.
- Request necessary supplies according to protocol and in a timely manner.
- Create and assemble arts & crafts for backup and rainy-day activities.
- Manage multiple units during peak periods.
- Develop curriculum in accordance with weekly themes when specific crafts are not provided.
- Provide adult-to-camper ratio inside and outside of specialty areas.
- Supervise campers' participation in structured and unstructured activities.
- Keep records, create reports, and return completed paperwork on time.
- Implement Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the Girl Scout Law.
- Engage in learning opportunities to build skills for respectfully interacting with diverse individuals.
- Prepare arts and crafts supplies necessary for each week before camp sessions start.
- Participate in the upkeep and cleaning of camp and units.
- Collaborate with program coordinators in preparation of arts and crafts activities before and during camp season.
- Enforce and implement state, American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts safety guidelines and standards.
- Assist with the opening and closing of camp.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Interest in specific program specialties.
- Comfort and ability to work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular hours.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.
- Commitment to creating a positive, fun, and professional environment.
- Effective and respectful communication with campers, staff, and supervisors.
- Willingness to subscribe to the Girl Scout philosophy and enroll as a member.
- Background check completion by GSWISE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and/or training in specific program specialties.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
