Role Description:
Join our Adventure Team as a challenge course/archery facilitator for Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska and experience a fun and rewarding camp environment! Our facilitators work with Girl Scouts, families, work groups, school groups, and more to create experiences that will push participants out of their comfort zones and build confidence, communication skills, and teamwork. No previous experience is required, and training is provided. Our courses include climbing walls, ziplines, adventure parks, and other fun challenges. We have locations in Nebraska City, Papillion, Grand Island, and Nickerson (near Fremont.) Join our team today!
Staff Training:
Challenge Course training – May 19-23
General Staff training – May 27-30 (CPR Training provided for those in need)
Archery Training (4 hours) – TBD
Dates:
May 19-23 (required) - Challenge Course Training
May 27-30 (required) - General Camp Training
Weekdays June-July
Some weekends required
Starting Pay: $13.50 per hour
Hours: 20 to 40 per week
Key Accountabilities:
· Open and close challenge course/archery range daily, including inspection of the course and equipment
· Conduct safety orientation, including reviewing rules and safety techniques with the group
· Fit guests in harnesses, helmets, and other safety equipment
· Facilitate the challenge course (must be comfortable at heights)
· Facilitate archery sessions
· Properly instruct, demonstrate, and safely guide guests through the course
· Report any physical concerns of the course/range to the Challenge Course Coordinator immediately
· Report incidents to the Challenge Course Coordinator and complete accident reports immediately
· Inspect equipment and fill out rope logs daily
· Store equipment in a neat and orderly fashion
· Adhere to all council policies and procedures
· Attend required meetings and trainings
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
· Be a member or be willing to become a member of the Girl Scouts, support the principles of Girl Scouting
· Must be willing and able to work in an outdoor setting
· Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Girl Scouts policy
· Must pass a criminal background check
· Must have transportation to and from camp location
· Hold a current certificate in First Aid/CPR or willing to be trained
· Be aware of and able to effectively handle health and safety procedures and emergency situations
· Must be able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
· Ability to work effectively with parents, children, volunteers, staff and diverse communities
· Willingness to work irregular hours
· Ability to bend, lift and carry up to 40 pounds
· Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance
· Prior experience is a plus but not required
