What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Camp Counselor position at Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska?
Would you like to make a positive impact on a young person’s life, get outdoors, and have some fun this summer? We’re currently hiring Day Camp Counselors for our summer day camp in Lincoln, NE. This seasonal position will allow counselors to build their resumes, learn important life skills, become more confident, and gain experience in teamwork and critical thinking in an unique, outdoor setting.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supervise Girl Scout campers in a day camp setting while adhering to all Girl Scout rules and Safety Activity Checkpoints.
- Collaborate with fellow camp staff to deliver a program designed to build girls of courage, confidence, and character.
- Must possess problem solving abilities to encourage camper growth and prioritize safety and wellbeing.
- Role model collaboration and initiative to campers and other staff.
- Activities may include: games, songs, hikes, crafts, STEM activities, art, meal preparation, outdoor skills and more. Camp curriculum, all supplies, and training are provided to staff.
- Make a positive difference in hundreds of lives and have fun at summer camp while you do it!
Camp Counselor Qualifications:
- Applicants must be 19 years of age
- Must pass a criminal background check, CPR certification is required (CPR training will be provided by employer).
- Prior outdoor or Girl Scouts experience a plus but not required.
- Must have transportation to and from camp location.
- Must be willing and able to work in an outdoor setting

Staff will need to be available to work Monday through Friday through June and into July
When: Monday – Friday, Drop-off 8:30am / Pick-up 4:00pm Each week is a different theme and activities: June 2-6: Nature Explorations! June 9-13: Artistic Inspiration! June 16-20: Exciting Experiments! June 23-27: Time Travel Fun!
Early shift also available from 7:45am-3pm to do morning prep and arrival
