Job Summary:
Girls Inc. of Kingsport is seeking a responsible and caring individual to join our team as a Part-Time After-School Van Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting children from various locations to Girls Inc. of Kingsport for after-school programs. This role plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of the children we serve. Van drivers must be available Monday-Friday from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Schedule may change occasionally based on school closures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport children from designated pick-up points to Girls Inc. of Kingsport for after-school programs.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving the van.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the van to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized van, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the children.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, School staff, and Girls Inc. staff regarding any changes in transportation schedules or emergencies.
- Implement appropriate behavior management techniques to ensure a positive and respectful atmosphere during transportation.
- Assist children in getting in and out of the van safely, ensuring seat belts are fastened and appropriate safety measures are taken.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or behavioral issues to Girls Inc. Program Manager promptly.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to coordinate transportation schedules and ensure a smooth transition for children to and from the programs.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in a transportation or childcare capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Working Conditions:
- Part-time position, during weekday afternoons.
- Work location: Girls Inc. of Kingsport and designated pick-up/drop-off points.
- Physically able to assist children in and out of the van and ensure their safety.
