POSITION DETAILS
TITLE: Cafeteria Substitute
AVAILABLE: Immediately Hiring
REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Manager
SALARY: $15/Hour
GLOW Academy is seeking to add substitutes to our Child Nutrition team to help prepare for and serve breakfast and lunch and clean up after lunch service. Our cafeteria serves breakfast and lunch for roughly 175 students a day. The available hours could be between 7:00am – 2:30pm with an unpaid 30 minute break, Monday through Friday.
The duties could vary from day to day, however this role may involve the following responsibilities, all under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Cafeteria Manager:
- Food Preparation:
- Assist with peeling, chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients.
- Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes.

- Cooking Support:
- Follow instructions to assist with cooking tasks.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food quality.

- Serving Food:
- Serve food from the line in an organized, timely, and courteous manner.
- Ensure proper portion sizes and presentation standards are maintained.

- Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and utensils.
- Wash dishes, pots, and pans, ensuring cleanliness standards are met.
- Maintain general kitchen cleanliness and organization.

- Equipment Handling:
- Operate kitchen appliances, such as ovens, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, and computers.
- Report equipment malfunctions.

- Inventory and Stock Management:
- Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing food supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages.

- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.

- Communicate effectively with the cafeteria team to ensure smooth operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food service or kitchen work
- Knowledge of food safety and preparation
- Dependability
- Open availability, scheduling can be with short notice
- Able to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks
The selected candidates must provide documented proof of a negative tuberculosis (TB) test result prior to beginning employment. This will be discussed at the offer stage.
