Girls on the Run International is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Coordinator will help to support the organization’s internal communications, marketing efforts (creative development, social, email and web properties), and public relations projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has excellent writing and editing skills, thrives in a team-oriented environment, and is passionate about our mission.

Communications
- Manage all aspects of the weekly internal newsletter including organizing submissions, interacting with coworkers, editing copy, and publishing
- Project manage and edit all email communications sent from Girls on the Run International, including newsletters to board members and external GOTR supporters
- Manage communication-related sections of the Council Portal, the intranet for Girls on the Run councils
- Coordinate editing projects for the communications team and serve as a primary copyeditor
- Coordinate communications projects for the team using project management software
- Manage and support council support email address
- Manage ongoing email list updates
- Oversee file management for the department
Marketing & Public Relations Support
- Contribute to GOTR’s social media presence, including managing the creation and uploading of social media posts and engaging daily with followers and partners.
- Collect participant and volunteer stories to build a library of marketing-ready content
- Assist digital marketing manager in tracking and reporting analytics
- Make minor updates to the girlsontherun.org website
- Support Communications and PR Manager in identifying and monitoring target media outlets and contacts
- Write and edit press releases for various announcements
- Coordinate mailings to key media contacts from conception to completion
- Track and report media coverage
Project Management
- Collaborate with the Marketing Project Manager to coordinate intradepartmental projects and tasks
- Provide insight into communications projects and bandwidth to support interdepartmental projects
- Manage quality assurance and oversee the release of projects to the council network

QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- One to three years of demonstrated educational or work experience in journalism, PR, communications, marketing, or related field. BA in journalism preferred.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Expertise in AP Style
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to organize cross-departmental projects
- Organized and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at a time and deliver within deadlines
- Experience in non-profit, youth development, consumer services and franchise operations a plus
- Ability to leverage the opportunities of this role to forward inclusivity, diversity, equity and access

This is a remote*, non-exempt, full-time position at 40 hours per week, offering a compensation range of $23 - $25 per hour, depending on experience.
