ABOUT GIRLS PREPARATORY SCHOOL:
Girls Preparatory School (GPS) was founded in 1906 to provide girls with the necessary courses to pursue a college education. GPS has proudly graduated almost 6000 young women since then. Currently, over 130 faculty and staff serve more than 500 girls in grades 6-12 with a college preparatory curriculum that includes a full complement of humanities, arts and STEM courses, and co-curricular programs of leadership development, athletics, performing arts, and community engagement.
General Description: The Development Intern will provide vital support to the Girls Preparatory School (GPS) Development Office by assisting with donor engagement, database management, research, and event coordination. This position is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit fundraising, alumni relations, and philanthropy. The intern will work closely with the Director of Development and collaborate with the Director of Alumnae Relations, Director of Impact Fund, Director of Parent Engagement and Special Events, Director of Advancement Services, Data Entry Specialist, and Major Gifts Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Donor & Alumnae Engagement

Research LinkedIn and Facebook alumnae groups to track engagement with GPS posts, identify alumnae non-group members, and send invitations.

Write handwritten thank-you notes to donors, event sponsors, and volunteers.

Assist with collecting, updating and maintaining reunion alumnae contact information.

Support Reunion Weekend efforts by coordinating with volunteer committees to ensure accurate class contact records.

Utilize Mail Chimp to help build monthly alumnae email
Data & Research

Review and categorize unsubscribe data to identify trends and develop re-engagement strategies.

Analyze donor activity, including lapsed donors and recent contributors who have not had visits in five years, to identify potential outreach opportunities.

Track and update alumnae and donor records in Raiser's Edge NXT.

Assist in managing and documenting volunteer records.
Database & Documentation Support

Upload and organize donor-related documentation, including pledge records, endowed letters, donor profiles, acknowledgment letters, and foundation gift correspondence.

Assist with merging and processing acknowledgment letters.

Conduct basic data entry, including updating addresses and managing returned mail.
Event Support

Assist in the setup and reporting for internal events, ensuring smooth execution and minimizing workload on staff.

Provide support for special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Development team.
General Skill & Experience Requirements:

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university, preferably studying communications, marketing, nonprofit management, business, or a related field.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with donor databases (NXT, OneCause, GiveCampus) is a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and collaborate in a team environment.

Interest in fundraising, alumni engagement, and nonprofit development.

Self-starter, ability to identify problems and propose solutions.

Ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents, volunteers, and co-workers in all departments of the School in a deadline-driven environment.
