Girlstart's Summer Counselors (called STEM CREW--Creative, Resourceful, Empowered Workforce) work directly with elementary-aged girls leading hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities at weekly, in-person day programs in the Boston, MA area. Enhance your leadership and teamwork skills, improve your presentation and communication skills, and build your problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities all while being a positive and meaningful role model for girls!

Responsibilities
A minimum of 1 year of college courses completed or related experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Lead program activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (previous STEM experience not required)
- Implement and run daily program activities
- Learn and implement the Girlstart method within the program environment
- Modify activities as needed to accommodate any unique program scenarios
- Be prepared to organize materials, practice technology, etc.
- Contribute to weekly counselor huddles
- Facilitate classroom management techniques
- Act as a positive role model for girls
- HAVE FUN!!!
- Other duties as needed
A minimum of 1 year of college courses completed or related experience is required.

- Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team player and foster cooperative work
- Reliable, dependable, and timely
- Effective organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication skills
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission of Girlstart
- Experience working at summer programs and/or informal education
- Classroom management skills helpful
- Ability to succeed in an informal/camp atmosphere
- Comfortable presenting to a group of girls
- Attend mandatory (paid) training before program (Dates TBD).
- Pass a background check, be or become First Aid/CPR certified, and obtain a Sexual Abuse Awareness certificate (Girlstart will provide additional information upon hire)
- Work the complete duration of the period: June 23-August 1 (no program June 30-July 4)
- All time off must be arranged with the Program Manager before May 23rd.
