What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Engineer position at Girton Manufacturing Co., Inc.?
The Automation Engineer’s primary activities, duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
· Reads and interprets sales / equipment specifications. Interacts with Sales and Customer Service to determine equipment features. Evaluates specifications versus standard specifications to determine if any new design components required.
· Interacts with Customers, as required, to develop custom designs to meet the exact customer needs.
· Produces drawings and / or documents for use by the Sales department for quotation purposes or for use by the Production department in construction of equipment.
· Produces documents for use in qualification of the control system.
· Develops programs for the control system that are used to interact with the equipment or used by the equipment to interact with the environment.
· Updates or produces new standard drawings for use by multiple pieces of equipment.
· Compiles Bill of Materials (BOM) for the drawings and assists in Engineering Clerk in BOM entry into the ERP system.
· Works with the Mechanical Design department to locate and specify electrical components including sensors, switches, and electrical enclosures. Coordinates mounting of components on the equipment.
· Assists the Production department when design questions are posed. Takes responsibility for helping the Production department construct the equipment as designed.
· Reviews the completed construction with Production department to produce As Built or updated drawings for final record and use in the future.
· Continually look for new design or construction techniques to improve quality, lower cost, or meet regulatory requirements. Devise and suggest possible new equipment based on feedback from Sales.
· Extra duties as assigned
· No supervisory responsibilities
Light travel may be required to provide support for control systems
