The Floor Manager is responsible for delivering an unparalleled dining experience by upholding the highest standards of service, efficiency, and professionalism. Under the guidance of the General Manager (GM), and the Assistant General Manager (AGM), this role is critical in leading a well-trained team, managing guest expectations, and fostering a culture of operational excellence in a dynamic dining environment. The ideal candidate will also assist with staff training and development, ensuring a consistently exceptional guest experience.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily Operations:
- Lead the dining room as the on-floor manager for up to four to five shifts per week.
- Open and/or close the restaurant as needed.
- Facilitate daily meetings with the chef (3:00 pm) and contribute to pre-meal briefings.
- Oversee nightly floor operations, including guest relations and team performance.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the dining room and patio
- Assist in the upkeep of POS system, ie: 86 items, add menu items, etc
- Guest Experience:
- Cultivate a refined and personalized guest experience for an upscale clientele.
- Engage with guests to build relationships and enhance their dining experience.
- Proactively gather guest preferences and feedback to enhance service quality.
- Staff Leadership:
- Assist the AGM in monitoring staff performance, offering coaching and guidance to maintain excellence.
- Lead by example, setting a tone of professionalism and attentiveness.
- Collaboration with Management:
- Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house teams and to discuss service improvements and operational strategies.
- Financial Accountability:
- Support management with daily cash handling and reporting.
- Crisis and Problem Management:
- Act swiftly to resolve guest concerns, operational disruptions, or emergencies.
- Maintain composure under pressure, setting a calm example for staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience within a fast-paced, high-quality restaurant environment.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Proficiency in restaurant management systems, reservation platforms, and service optimization tools. We specifically use Upserve, and Teamwork.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working in a diverse and inclusive environment
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a restaurant hospitality setting.
HOURS & COMPENSATION
The Floor Manager is scheduled to work 35-40 hours per week, with flexibility during peak seasons and holidays. The ability to work up to 5 additional hours of overtime during peak season is required. In addition to up to five floor shifts per week, administrative duties will be completed during allocated hours as coordinated with the AGM.
