Position summary:
Our flavor creation and application team is the foundation and creative force of the flavors and ingredients business, who develop creative new food product concepts, evaluate new flavor profiles and delivery technologies and most importantly, help our Account Managers in winning new business.
Reporting to a Technical Lead, we are recruiting for a Technologist in our Beverage Applications group in Cincinnati, OH.
As an application and ingredient technologist in our flavor creation and application team, you will be instrumental in supporting all aspects of scale up and shelf life testing.You will apply your scientific expertise and creativity to optimize ingredient systems, modify existing ones, and support the commercialization across a variety of beverage applications.
Key Responsibilities will be split across running the pilot plant and testing ingredient/flavor systems in various beverage applications.
50% of time - Pilot Lab SME & OMVE owner
- Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment, ensuring all processes adhere to safety and quality standards, including troubleshooting.
- Subject matter technical expert on the set up, processing, shut down, and CIP of OMVE equipment.
- Responsible for training on all pilot lab equipment to ensure all SOP practices are followed.
- Support the processing needs for proactive and reactive customer activities for the FC&A Teams (Beverage & SG&D).
- Assist in the development, training, and implementation of new equipment and technologies to enhance pilot plant capabilities.
- Thoroughly document procedures, observations, and outcomes for future reference.
50% of time - Applications Support & Ingredient Performance
- Test ingredients in various beverage applications to establish optimal use level for performance in application.
- Support customer directed development needs, including supporting end to end development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs and market trends. Including sample preparation, presentation support, and data sharing.
- Extend knowledge of ingredients, customer bases, processes, and flavor interactions in Beverage applications.
- Ownership of shelf life testing protocol and implementation. Including the testing of ingredients and formulas for long term stability and performance
- Maintain accurate records of all work and present experimental results internally and to customers.
