Job Description
Job Title: After School Program (ASP) Substitute
Schedule: On-Call Monday-Friday, Shifts: 1:15pm-6:00pm or 2:00pm-6:30pm
Supervisor: Site Lead and Program Director
Job Summary
The primary role of the After School Program Substitute is to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students through facilitating quality programming. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising elementary age students, assisting the students academically, engaging the students with enrichment activities and assisting in recreational games. The ASP Substitute must have the ability to establish authority through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience. Enthusiasm, dedication, and the ability connect with children are essential qualities for staff in order to foster the social, emotional and academic growth of all students in program.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times while promoting a safe and positive classroom environment
- Monitor enrichment lessons through observation and interaction with site staff an in alignment with the After School Quality Standards.
- Provide an opportunity for the ASP students to participate in enriching academic and physical education activities without regard for high performance skill or ability
- Build a working relationship with school day teachers and work to extend the regular school day in the after-school program
- Attend all meetings and training's that the position requires
- Ensures age-appropriate conversation among members and staff; promote good manners and encourage common courtesies among members and staff
- Responsible for designated group for duration of program or until replacement staff arrives – never leave a group unsupervised
- Responsible for immediately reporting and documenting all injuries or incidents utilizing established GECAC procedures for notification to the Site Lead and parents.
- Support the exploration of interests and the development of skills, mastery, and creativity.
- Support youth leadership development
- Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for youth
Required Credentials
- High School Diploma or GED
- Receive Department of Justice background clearance
- Negative TB within past 4 years
- Passing of the proficiency test or 48 college credits. The proficiency test will be scheduled and administered in the main office prior to the initial onboarding process
Preferred Credentials
- Experience and/or training in a closely related employment position preferred
- Bilingual a plus
