Give Back is a long-term educational and vocational coaching program for students who have faced adversities which impact their success. Give Back is designed to empower students to discover, create, and achieve a post-secondary pathway which leads to a meaningful and sustainable career. We empower students to build resilience, overcome adversity, and find pathways to become self-reliant adults and leaders of their communities.
Student Success Coaches advise and support students beginning in 8th or 9th grade. Coaches guide students to create an individualized Student Action Goal Plan, explore and experience possible career paths, and provide guidance and assistance with financial pathway planning, The coach will be responsible for bi-monthly contact with students, and participating in purposeful programming and events with students..
A strong coach will engage with students well, empower them to meet their goals, and assist in connecting them with resources as needed, to further their post-secondary education and career success. Accurate record-keeping is a position requirement, and candidates must be comfortable with navigating our computer and database systems.
Responsibilities
- Assists students and families in the application process.
- Oversees the coaching and case management of Give Back students and works closely with students in developing student action plans and career action plans.
- Attend local (Thurston County), regional, and national (online) events that are required for students. Participate in staff training.
- Documents program activities, collecting data such as grades from students, and tracking progress metrics.
- Travel between various program sites to deliver in-person coaching and events with students.
- Oversee the coaching and case management of Give Back students and work closely with students in developing Student Action Plans and Career Action Plans.
- Maintain regular (bi-weekly) in-person and online contact with students in their case load.
- Document program activities, collect data (such as grades) from students, and track progress metrics
- Maintain and keep online student records and data current.
- Provide team support to local projects and events including Student Gatherings, Student Dinners, Career Discovery Events, Student recruitment events and more. This includes Saturday online and in-person workshops.
- Other duties as assigned to support Give Back programming locally and nationally.
Qualifications
- An associate degree in human services, education, counseling, psychology, or related field. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years working with youth and underserved populations in an educational setting, non-profit or community-based program.
- Ability to meet students in-person at school settings, multiple times a week.
- Knowledge of or experience working in or with schools strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail; ability to maintain accurate record-keeping.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Salesforce.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel to events and student meetings.
- Position includes flexible schedule, which includes periodic weekend events.
- Ability to drive multiple person passenger van with students.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Salesforce.
- Clean Background check (State child abuse/neglect check, Federal background check, public domain search, national criminal background check).
