What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Operations Manager position at Givens?
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Givens is Driven to Deliver - both for our customers and our employees. Since 1957 Givens has provided customers a single source solution for warehouse, distribution, transportation, packing and crating and air freight services. We have been growing significantly over the last few years and continue to grow at a rapid pace.
Supervise shipping, receiving and inventory accuracy for warehouse operations. Train, develop and direct staff to meet output expectations. Collaborate with IT and customer service personnel to enhance and configure WMS system to maximize warehousing activities. Lead and manage staff in the support and organization of operations to satisfy customer expectations and meet company goals.
DUTIES:
- Personally manages warehousing and distribution operations to ensure shipments and receipts are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and on time by enforcing policies and procedures
- Troubleshoot order and inventory discrepancies as needed
- Keeps a positive, motivated attitude towards work and tasks assigned and instills that in fellow employees
- Optimizes warehouse staff performance by coaching, counseling, disciplining, & evaluating quality of employees' work
- Requests, orients, and trains new hire candidates and existing staff to meet required labor needs and SOPs on a daily basis
- Utilizes system data to examine daily individual worker productivity
- Reports operating performance on a daily basis to the Operations Manager, identifies problems, and provides recommendations for solutions
- Provides regular reporting to management
- Prepares and processes shipments and receipts through WMS
- Able to analyze data generated by WMS
- Safeguards operations by ensuring compliance with procedures and maintaining a safety-first mentality
- Maintain adequate levels of supplies and request replenishment as appropriate
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse building, reporting any maintenance issues to appropriate personnel
- Maintains frequent communications with colleagues across departments and with all involved parties including customers
- Documents all outstanding issues every evening and prepares the following days beginning work before departure each day

- Other requests as specified as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain or similar field
- Required minimum of 5 years of experience in a high volume, fast paced warehouse environment in a similar role.
- Demonstrated track record of position promotion
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Preferred WMS, and RF technology experience
- Forklift Certified a plus
