Job Summary:
The Pricing Analyst will be responsible for developing and analyzing pricing strategies for the company's asset-based services including warehousing and transportation. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with various departments, including Sales, Operations, and Finance, to ensure competitive and profitable pricing structures. The ideal candidate will have experience in third-party logistics (3PL) and an understanding of cost structures, market trends, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing & Cost Analysis:
- Develop pricing models and cost estimates for warehousing, transportation, and logistics services.
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and competitor pricing to ensure competitive and profitable rate structures.
- Generate and maintain pricing databases for various service offerings.
- Assess cost structures for different transportation modes, including truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), drayage, intermodal, and last-mile delivery.
- Evaluate and model warehouse storage, handling, and fulfillment pricing based on labor, space utilization, and operational costs.
Quoting & Proposal Support:
- Collaborate with Sales and Business Development teams to provide timely and accurate pricing proposals for customer inquiries and RFPs.
- Prepare financial models and profitability analyses for new business opportunities.
- Assist in negotiating pricing terms with customers, carriers, and suppliers.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Track and analyze customer pricing trends, margin performance, and profitability metrics.
- Generate reports and dashboards to provide insights into pricing effectiveness and revenue growth opportunities.
- Identify cost-saving initiatives and process improvements through data-driven insights.
Market Research & Competitive Analysis:
- Research industry trends, fuel surcharges, carrier rates, and economic factors affecting pricing.
- Benchmark competitor pricing and identify areas for strategic pricing adjustments.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Work closely with Operations and Finance teams to ensure pricing aligns with service capabilities and financial objectives.
- Support automation and system improvements for pricing processes and cost analysis tools, including tool and software implementation
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in pricing, financial analysis, or cost modeling within the transportation, warehousing, or logistics industry.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling).
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and pricing software is a plus.
- Knowledge of freight pricing, warehousing cost structures, and supply chain operations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a 3PL environment handling pricing for dedicated, contract, transactional, or brokerage services.
- Familiarity with freight classifications, accessorial charges, and carrier pricing methodologies.
- SQL, Power BI, or other data visualization tools experience is a plus.
