What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at GKN Automotive?
Role Purpose
Lead all Plant Value Streams to achieve Zero lost time accidents, 100% Delivery, Quality and Cost. Act as a member of a Site Leadership team, with a focus on meeting and exceeding internal / external expectations. A Value Stream manager takes full ownership of the value streams and must be able to ‘step back’ and view the value streams from a broad perspective.
Key Responsibilities
oEnsure Value Streams operate safely for all employees.
oImplement Leadership Ways of Working (including systematic Gemba Walk and Constructive
Feedback / Recognition).
oUnderstand GKN Driveline, Regional, and local objectives and integrate to long and short-term plans
for the Value Streams.
oLead by example and champion a culture of Diversity, Inclusion, Engagement, and Employee
Involvement, following the GKN values and behaviors.
oLead and align value stream-based functions to focus on value stream goals. Align operation and
function leaders within the value streams.
oChampion the use of lean tools to achieve the goals of the value stream through improving flow and
removing waste (non-value add).
oEnsure compliance to internal and external accreditation standards (including IATF and internal
DES standards).
oEnsure compliance to local and GKN business policies.
oWork with Human Resources to cultivate a development plan for value stream employees (Talent Review and Succession Planning).
oPromote a culture of Cost Leadership
oTake ownership for the value streams budget and financial performance.
People Management :
oDevelop a diverse and inclusive team aligned to GKN philosophy.
oMotivate team by setting challenging and achievable goals. Communicate business strategy and
update team on the roadmap to excellence.
oCreate a culture of Engagement where all employees have the tools they need to do their job well
and have the opportunity to contribute to improvement through employee involvement.
Formal Qualifications
Essential
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
3 years of experience as member of a site leadership team in Automotive Manufacturing
Graduate of a Lean training program (MCIL / SCIL / BPE / PMCIL)
