Position Overview:
GKN – St. Marys is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing management, particularly within the powdered metal industry. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, a keen understanding of production processes, and a commitment to ensuring quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, including production planning, scheduling, and quality control.
- Lead and develop a team of production supervisors, technicians, and operators to achieve production targets and quality standards. Act as a mentor and coach to support the professional development of your employees.
- Build strong relationships with your team members, promoting trust, respect, and open communication.
- Implement and maintain best practices for safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.
- Implement lean methodologies, Six Sigma principles, or other improvement frameworks to streamline processes and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, maintenance, and logistics, to optimize workflows and resolve any production-related issues.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies related to manufacturing operations.
- Solicit feedback from employees on a regular basis, both regarding their experiences and their overall satisfaction and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing management, in the powdered metal industry is highly preferred.
- In depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment, and materials.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
