GL Career Placement is seeking an experienced Director of International Freight Forwarding to lead and enhance the international transportation operations for one of our clients in Burlingame, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Define and oversee the company s international freight forwarding services to ensure consistent, high-quality performance.
- Build and manage relationships with suppliers and carriers, including negotiations to optimize efficiency and costs.
- Continuously evaluate and improve operational workflows to enhance productivity and scalability.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team to achieve organizational goals while fostering a collaborative and motivating environment.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and strategic performance goals.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced technology and processes into transportation management systems.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including US Customs and CTPAT standards.
- Drive customer satisfaction by addressing and resolving operational challenges effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree and at least 5 years of management experience in freight forwarding or international transportation (or equivalent experience and certifications such as NCBFAA Export/Customs Specialist or US Customs Brokerage License).
- Advanced proficiency with logistics technology and platforms, including MS Office, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and Cargowise.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing diverse teams and achieving results.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in compliance with international logistics regulations and standards.
