Position Summary:
The Scrum Master is a servant leader dedicated to supporting the Scrum team in delivering high-quality software that enhances GL Home’s ability to provide value to stakeholders. With a deep understanding of agile practices, the Scrum Master guides the team in making commitments that elevate quality, effectiveness, and value creation. The ideal candidate is a passionate change agent who influences both team members and business stakeholders to embrace change as a tool for improvement and competitive advantage. While this is not a technical position, the Scrum Master should possess good technical acumen and be able to understand basic programming concepts and discussions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the Scrum framework with respect to ceremonies, artifacts, and roles.
- Coach and teach agile values, principles, and practices.
- Facilitate collaborative delivery of value to the company through working software.
- Serve the team by removing impediments and advocating for resources needed for the team's success.
- Lead the team in continuously improving quality, effectiveness, and value creation.
- Facilitate short-term, mid-term, and long-term feature planning.
- Conducting and facilitating all Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, grooming sessions, product reviews, sprint retrospective, etc.) to ensure the teams are meeting sprint goals and milestones
- Ensuring timely delivery of software with a high level of quality in an agile environment.
- Identifying ways to increase effectiveness and efficiencies with an eye toward process improvement opportunities.
- Ensure value delivered by a program is tracked through metrics.
- Maintaining clear and consistent communication channels with the managers, teams, and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective communication of statuses and any issues that may impact the team’s delivery.
- Provides visibility into program health, progress, and impediments.
- Leading and demonstrating value-add principles to a team, while ensuring Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to.
- Promoting and providing an environment for feedback, team communication, and innovation
- Experience working with onsite/offshore teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, relationship management, client-facing, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership and/or Project Lead experience is a must.
- Experience with business process flows and UX concepts.
- Assist in establishing standards and procedures for project reporting, documentation, and process improvements.
- The incumbent is expected to need little or no direct guidance or supervision on a day-to-day basis.
Education & Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a technical environment, with at least 3 years serving in the Scrum Master role.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and exercises at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
- Ability to lead the team in discovering their own solutions to problems and challenges they face.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
- Experience applying other Agile methods, such as XP, Kanban, etc.
- Experience working on teams that used Agile technical practices such as pair programming, test-driven development, continuous integration, etc.
- Experience leading multiple Scrum teams at once.
- Experience developing software.
- Experience with Power BI for agile practice insights is a differentiator
- Scrum Master certification.
