What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Teacher (Sub) - Part-time position at Glacial Community YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Retired teacher? Stay at home parent with kids in school? College student with extra time? This position could be for you!
This is a substitute position, you will fill in as needed for staff that are out sick or on vacation. Each month you will receive a list of available hours, you choose the shifts that work for you. Hours are between 6am and 6pm Monday-Friday, no weekend or evening shifts. Some shifts may be last minute requests. Pay is based on qualifications and experience.
As a substitute, you will implement pre-school curriculum and provide care that encourages physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth in a safe and nurturing environment.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent general education degree, required.
- Certification or approved course work in early childhood development must be obtained within first 90 days.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, preferred.
- Knowledge of state child care licensing, Young Star, and NAC accreditation requirements, preferred.
- Certifications that must be obtained and maintained within first 90 days: CPR, AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication.
- Attend at minimum 9 staff meetings per year, complete at least 15 hours in early childhood training, and obtain additional certification as requested.
