What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Needs Program Instructor - Part-time position at Glacial Community YMCA?
The YMCA is a leading non-profit organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
Do you have a passion for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? We are looking for someone to work in our summer programming on Mondays and Wednesdays. This position will also include our Miracle League program on Tuesday evenings in summer to teach and help youth, teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn the skills for softball/baseball.
Position Qualifications:
- Interest in working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.
- Willingness to learn best practices related to working with individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of specified program content and ability to effectively give instruction to others and make modifications based on abilities of each participant.
- Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.
- Certifications that must be obtained and maintained within first 90 days: CPR, AED , First Aid , Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Individuals in this job may be subject to loud facilities and elements of weather.
